Call for input to selection of US Team Men
Hi gentlemen,
At the July board meeting in Denver, the Competition Committee resolved to give US male S&A competitors a choice between the following selection systems for the 2012 US Team, in in effect at the upcoming US Nationals in Eloy, October 25-30th. The selected team will compete at the 2012 WPC in Dubai. This is for MALE competitors only; the female selection system remains unchanged. However, ladies, if you personally know someone "off the grid" who might not see this, please contact them.
The first choice is selection system A ("A" for greater emphasis on accuracy). It takes the first three overall competitors,
then fills the fourth and fifth slots with the next best accuracy jumpers:
A. "Men's team, consisting of five members plus an alternate, will be formed by taking the top three overall competitors,
and the next two best accuracy competitors."
The second choice is to return to the original selection system that was in place prior to the 2010 US Team, with a
dedicated #4 style slot. We'll call that proposal B ("B" for what we had before):
B. "Men's team, consisting of five members plus an alternate, will be formed by taking the top three overall competitors,
the next best style competitor, and the next best accuracy competitor."
A simple majority (51% of the received votes) will decide your choice. Please respond ASAP via email or phone (540) 604-9740 ext. 308; (540) 604-9741 cell.
I'll tabulate the results and share them for your review. Scott Smith (comp. committee chairman) will send your decision to the executive committee for approval. I will publish your selection choice immediately thereafter. With timely response, the selection system will be published at least 60 days before the nationals (on or about August 25th).
Thanks for your attention, and please get the word out.
Sincerely,
James Hayhurst | Director of Competition | USPA
